Check-in and packet pick-up is Friday October 1st , from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the Aquatic Center, 25 Colorado Ave. Please attend either briefing on Friday evening (6 or 7:30 p.m.) for additional information.
It is the responsibility of the participant to know the course, if the participant does not follow the proper course and distance they will be disqualified.
Bring layers for the ever-changing Colorado weather during this time of year.
There will be limited parking at the Aquatic Center. Plan on extra time to find a spot on Colorado Av., Rio Grande south of Colorado Av, The Wings of Mercy Church parking lot across the street, or better yet the Montrose HS parking lot to the north on the other side of the tennis courts and football field. NO PARKING ON RIO GRANDE NORTH OF COLORADO AV!
7 a.m start for School Cup, and at 8:15 a.m. the Main Triathlon start order will be: Youth, Teams, Individuals.
Weather-If, in the opinion of the Race Committee, at ANY time during the race, the conditions are jeopardizing the safety of the participants then the event will be stopped. It may, or may not, be re-started, and no refunds will be issued.
Swim-pay attention to heat information, be ready to swim 30 minutes before your heat time, no diving starts, lap counters will notify you on last length, be supportive of personnel distributing timing chips. Permitted strokes are: freestyle, back or breast.
Transition Area-WALK or jog with your bike until you cross the line, have your helmet buckled before you get on your bike, nobody ever got penalized for having their helmet on too long! Teams: be aware of designated chip transfer areas! Penalties for No Helmet or riding in transition areas will be 3 minutes each occurrence.
Bike Course-review the map, ride under control on the right, be prepared to deal with on your own minor mechanical (flats, etc.) repairs, NO drafting or pacing, pass on the left after making yourself known to others; Follow all applicable traffic laws, as well as directions of officers and staff, as all roads other than Rio Grande north of the Aquatic Center ARE OPEN TO TRAFFIC!!!!; “spin easy” the last half mile into the Aquatic Center to ready your legs for the Run, there is 1 water Station about ½ way through the Course; for safety reasons NO headphones on the bike course!
Transition Area-Once again: WALK or jog with your bike once you get to the line. Teams: be aware of designated chip transfer areas!
Run Course-Run with your head, and your legs WILL catch up! Remember you get to run DOWN that hill too! There is a water Station at the top, and at the bridge.
Have fun, and encourage others! Awards Ceremony immediately following at the Aquatic Center.
